PHOTO CONTEST INFORMATION AND RULES

The Snap It! Summer Photo Contest (“Contest”)is sponsored and administered by the Union County Community Arts Council (“Sponsor”).
DESCRIPTION: The Snap It! Summer Photo Contest is a photography contest that encourages residents of Union County, NC, 18 years of age & older, to share their original photographs.
THEME: Water (A significant component of the photograph must be water)
CONTEST DEADLINES: The contest entry period begins at 10:00 am July 1, 2018 and ends
At 10:00 am July 16, 2018. During the contest entry period, entrants may submit up to five (5) photos.
The contest voting period begins at 10:00 am July 17, 2018 and ends at 10:00 am July 31, 2018.
By participating in the Contest, each entrant unconditionally accepts and agrees to comply with and abide by these Official Rules.
HOW TO ENTER: Entries are limited to five (5) per individual; however, each entry posted by an individual must be substantially different from any of their previous entries. A Facebook account is required to enter.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:Contest is only open to legal residents of Union County, North Carolina, who are 18 years of age and older. The winner will be required to present a current North Carolina photo ID to receive the cash prize. The Contest is not open to employees, board members, their immediate families and anyone living with any employee of the Sponsor or its board members. (Immediate family members include parents, spouse, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren, in-laws and domestic partners).
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: A significant component of the photograph must be water. Photo submissions with professional logos or watermarks will not be considered. Photographers should demonstrate a keen eye, and images that have impact, originality and creativity.
Entrants may make reasonable use of digital darkroom type techniques that enhance quality but do not distort the photograph. Only minor burning, dodging and/or color correction is acceptable, as is cropping.
Entries must be the original work of the entrant, may not have been previously published, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. Sponsor reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to Sponsor from any entrant at any time. Failure to provide such proof may, if requested, render entry null and void. By submitting an entry the entrant warrants and represents that he/she and the person or third-party that appears in or is identifiable in the entry consent to the submission and use of the entry in the Contest and to its use as otherwise set forth herein.
CONTENT RESTRICTIONS: Entries may not contain, as determined by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, any content that:
- is sexually explicit or suggestive; violent or derogatory of any ethnic, racial, gender, religious, professional or age group; profane or pornographic; contains nudity
- promotes alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, firearms/weapons (or the use of any of the foregoing); promotes any activities that may appear unsafe or dangerous; promotes any particular political agenda or message,contain material that is unlawful, in violation of or contrary to the laws or regulations in the jurisdiction where submission is created
- depicts animal cruelty
- is obscene or offensive; endorses any form of hate or hate group
- defames, misrepresents or contains disparaging remarks about other people or companies.
Each image must have a unique description. Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” are not acceptable as part or all of an image’s description, nor are camera capture filenames or descriptions consisting of only numbers. Please use only English alphabet and numeric (a-z A-Z 0-9).
OWNERSHIP/USE RIGHTS: Entrants retain the copyright to their photographs. However, by entering the Contest, you hereby grant the Sponsor and its advertising and promotional agencies a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sub-licensable and transferable license to print, share through social media, publish, use, reproduce, distribute, modify, adapt and prepare derivative works of your Contest entry, and display your full name and photograph in connectionwith your Contest entry, in any media formats and through any media channels.
By submitting an entry, entrant hereby grants permission for the entry to be posted on www.unionarts.org or on the Sponsors media channels and used in press materials.
VOTING:All eligible entries received throughout the contest period will be judged by public vote. Individuals will be able to view the approved submissions and vote for their favorite by following the specified instructions. The one (1) entry with the highest total number of votes at the end of the voting period will be deemed the prize winner, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these official rules. In the event of a tie, a “tie-breaking” judge will identify the prize winner.
VOTING CONDITIONS: Entrants are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, offering prizes or other inducements to members of the public and/or using any websites or online forums designed to induce individuals or provide other incentives to vote for their finalist submission, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. All votes are subject to final verification by Sponsor. Use of script, macro or other automated system to vote or with the intent to impair the integrity of the voting process is prohibited and all such votes will be void.
WINNER NOTIFICATION:Sponsor’s decisions are final and binding on all matters relating to this Contest. Potential winner will be notified on Monday, July 24, by direct message or comment on the applicable entry photo and will be asked to respond and provide their full name, telephone number (including area code), date of birth, mail and/or email address, as well as a valid North Carolina picture ID.
Snap It! Summer Photo Contest Copyright Release
My participation in the contest allows the Union County Community Arts Council to reprint and/or reuse the photo(s), which I have submitted herewith, in various media formats
for an unlimited amount of uses over an unlimited time period. Use of the photograph(s) is granted at no charge to the Union County Community Arts Council. The Union County
Community Arts Council has sole discretion to crop, edit or otherwise enhance the images.
I certify that the images submitted are my original work and if copyrighted that I am the sole copyright owner. Copyright of the images remain the property of the photographer.
I also attest to have consent of anyone clearly depicted in images submitted, and agree to provide proof of consent upon request.
By participating in the contest, I also agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Union County Community Arts Council from and against all claims, actions, proceedings, damages,
losses, liabilities, and costs that may arise from or related to any infringement on any intellectual property rights or other rights of a third party.
