The Union County Community Arts Council is pleased to award the Heart of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award to Gay Murrill & the Hugh and Cutie Murrill Foundation.
This award is presented annually to individuals or businesses that have made important contributions to the cultural life in Union County. These award winners have worked to assure and improve the cultural arts programs and services of the council and the community.
The Murrill Foundation was created in 1965 by Hugh C. Murrill as a way to generate income that could be donated to charities and nonprofits of his choice. The foundation has made donations to NC State University Engineering Department, Salem College, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Ashley Hall in South Carolina.
