Susan Moore

Monroe, NC

Susan was born and raised in Charlotte. When she was 12, she spent a weekend with an older neighbor who was an artist. She gave Susan a set of acrylic paints and taught her how to paint flowers on a bucket. She was hooked, and for the next few years painted on paper, wood, canvas - even rocks.

With the exception of a semester art class in high school and a very boring “Art 101” in college, she is self taught. She has worked with Andy Braitman, Jeremy Sams, Dottie Leatherwood and others through the years to hone her skills. She paints landscapes, many en plein air, urban scapes, botanicals and abstracts in acrylic, oil, oil and cold wax and mixed media.

Susan is a member of The Guild of Charlotte Artists, and has served on the Board for the past 3 years as the Show and Exhibits Chair. She has organized and overseen over 15 shows and helped add new venues including Myers Park United Methodist Church’s Hope Gallery and the Mint Museum Uptown.

“As an artist, my passion is to paint what I love and share the beauty of what I love with others. My work is inspired by the world around us - the play of shadow and light, colors that are ever-changing and evocative, and the way the atmosphere can move and touch our emotions and feelings.”
